All it takes is a little Brett

So, with Brett Farve on my side, there's no losing...That's right, 128 points and I didn't even start a full roster. You're my boy, Brett!

The parallels continue...

I note this morning that OTN has acquired Marvin Harrison from the waiver wire. Yes, the Marvin Harrison, one of the top 5 WR's in the league who will be 100% healthy this week. Eerily similar to to the Pats picking up Randy Moss in the offseason.

NOTE TO SELF: Scan the mf'ing drop/add list every day!!

Monday, October 29, 2007

Well, Cedric Jones at least got 5 puntas.

TRAVIS HENRY DEACTIVATED

OTN = New England Patriots?

The last two weeks OTN has dismantled the #2 and #3 teams in the league while scoring a combined 241 points. Just as I thought Washington might challenge New England, I thought Spooner might pose a challenge....but no.

Maybe the suddenly red hot Genuine Bakula can give OTN a run. Or the Lake Lizards, who somehow beat OTN in week 2 can do it again in week 10 when Tom Brady is on his bye week. Unless Brady gets points for fertilizing super models during his off week. Then the Lizards will have no chance.

Early game update

OTN - 69
TSE - 92

Still have Brady, Gates, and the hyphen to play, so we'll see what happens.

GB - 45
SC - 18

LT and Rivers still to go, but looking good for Tray Dee's old team.

LL - 36
VC - 90

Looks like the sweet one may be off the schnide.

MPTH v2.0 - 36
SH - 72
Her team shit the bed.

Staring down another F in the A.

ALL my players are playing, RIGHT NOW.
Except for my kicker.
OTN is gonna roll right over me.
Oh well.

Thoughts
Colts - Run the Ball!!!
Browns D -- give up LOTS so Anderson has to throw! But no to Edwards.
Pittsburgh D -- play solid unless the ball is to the Housh.
Cincy Run D - Play tough, make Big Ben throw the ball.
Cedric Benson - PLEASE have 1 good game in you!!!
Fucking McNabb -- You have a weapon in Curtis - USE IT!!!

Bolts D -- Play tough. Only give up field goals. Lots of field goals.

Holy shit.

I don't understand why more teams don't try and utilize the hook and ladder.

Again?

Can everyone put their #1 draft pick on the waiver wire for me?

VooDoo Cadillac Needs Home Field Advantage!

If people would like to watch the games from VooDoo's home field this Sunday, you're welcome to. It will coincide with our wicked cool block party for Halloween. The city has shut down my street and we'll have a parade, costume contests, a band, etc. Now remember, it's a block party so the parade will probably be dogs in costumes, but it's a parade none-the-less. Very kid friendly. And the game will be on. Anyone interested?

At least Norte Dame is Worse than Voodoo Cady

Did you know Norte Dame ranks 119 of 119 DI-A teams in total offense and rushing offense (and 118 for scoring and 112 for passing offense). But here's the killer: if Norte Dame doubled their per game rushing, they would only rise to 118 in rushing, only ahead of Duke. Wow.

BC @ VPI

Who are we pulling for?

I still hate the Hokies for getting the government involved in college athletics and strong-arming their way into the ACC. Plus, they're thugs. I'm also fundamentally opposed to any school north of the Mason-Dixon line being in the ACC. Plus, I'm really tired of hearing about how BC is finally winning now that TOB is gone. Yeah.

Have I mentioned I hated expansion then and I hate it now?

What's a girl to do?

Uh Oh Beeches. Here Comes the Bakula

Oct 24 St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson (groin) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 24. Barring a setback, head coach Scott Linehan said Jackson will start Week 8.

Here comes the train!!!!!!!!!!!! Woooo Woooo

Thats right. I said it. D-E-R-E-K A-N-D-E-R-S-O-N.

Starting. Sunday.
If he could light up Miami for 28 ish puntas, imagine what my boy is gonna do to the woeful Rams.
Bring on your pretty boy, Sidekick.
Now, if only I had a running back that could score more than 5 points.
Fuck you, Mike Shannahan.

Moral Victories

How many points do I get for a moral victory? I've looked over the schedule and found a startling statistic!

Voodoo Cadillac's Opponent
Week 1: 127 by mustprotectthishouse (week's high score)
Week 2: 124 by Sam Handwhich (week's high score)
Week 3: 76 by Smallville Crows
Week 4: 90 by Offensive Team Name (week's high score)
Week 5: 106 by Spooner Express
Week 6: 133 by Genuine Bakula (week's high score)

Let's get past the part about playing the week's high scorer. I am so over that. NOT! But my opponents have totaled 656 points scored; compare to the average total points scored of 554. This is highway robbery. Easily the toughest schedule. In college football, they give bonus points for that.

There's one more point that I'd like to make. When my frustrated field generals look at the score board, they notice other teams are getting off easy. If we dropped the team I played from the scores and compare my points to the rest of you mf's, I'd be 16-20. Not claiming that's a good record, but it translates into 2-4. I hereby declare my morally-adjusted record as 2-4.

WHO IN THE FUCK IS KENTON KEITH !!!!

What kind of bush league Mike Shannahan bull shit is that?
MOTHER FUCKER!!!
Fuck you Tony Dungee. You sir are a man of little integrity.

Manning 10 points ( sans interception) + Passing & Rushing TDs !!!
Addai 10 points

10:55 -- Thats it boys.
Unless Addai & Manning fumble and intercept themselves out of several puntas.

See you next week for the H2H between the Express & OTN. Lets see if the Sidekick keeps the Washington D against the Golden Boy.

Dirty pool?

Did one of our league members stash a guy on waivers just so that they could pick them back up just as one of their other players went on their bye week?

For shame, for shame...

Have we turned a corner...

...or should I bet the house?

Opening line is UVA -3.5.

Thoughts?

KC vs Raiders was a game?

I was looking at the stats and the teams combined for 14 first downs and 558 total yards in what must have been a painfully slow game for all involved. Battle of defense OR significant lack of offense.

Oakland had 55 rush yards on 20 carries by the featured backs. . .

The Raiders are definitely MY team. . .

Thursday night football -- BC @ Va Tech.

Wow. Should be good clean fun.

Any interest in...

an 'owner's meeting' next weekend? Get the 8 of us together, have a few drinks, watch some football, and laugh at the 'guar's second pick in the draft.

NOTE: The meeting has been pushed to the weekend of the 4th in the late afternoon when the NE/Indy game is on! Be forewarned.

Looking an F in the A square in the face.

Wow. So the Smallville Crows currently have the Express down 79-20.
Going into tonight, I have the Pitt D, WR & TE.
Tomorrow, I have Peyton & Addai.

Hopefully, my boys can sack up and score a couple puntas.

***SITE ADMIN NOTE***
Why couldn't Ronnie Ronnie Brown break his knee last week?

Heath Miller -- 5 puntas & 2 TDs beeches!!!
T. Henry - 5 puntas -- this beech is as good as dropped. Piece of shit.
Fucking Mike Shannahan -- Who the fuck is Cecil Sapp ???
S. Holmes - 5 puntas & a TD, beeches!!!
Shit - Pitt D gave up 25 puntas --- HA HA HA 2 PICKS and 1 Sack, beeches!!!!!!
Defense picked up 6.

So I picked up at least 39 of 59, with Manning & Addai needing to get 20 Mon Night.
Come on Ponies !!!

Here's where we stand.

OTN - 97
SH - 62
Tommy loves me. He knew that my TE had the week off and that I'd miss out on some points, so he took up the slack. Thanks Tom.

SC - 79
TSE - 20
Other than the fact that The Spooner Express has 95% of his team to play, this one is OVAH.

VC - 87
GB - 133
Sweet D, I've got a cold, could you come over because you're good for what ails you. THE CURSE OF FAVRE IS REAL! YOU CAN'T APPEASE HIS BRETTNESS JUST BY TRADING BACK FOR HIM. WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!

MPTH v 2.0 - 80
LL - 83
DEAD MAN WALKING. Unfortunately, Coach P has shot his wad already, and 'This House' still has Fast Willie to go.

Overall, another great afternoon of games.

Go Pack!!! I never imagined beating ECU....

would actually matter, or if it happened, feel so emotionally relieving.
Certain members of the ITSMC feel they are in an abusive relationship w. the Pack.
Me, I definitely feel like an enabler.
"I wish I knew how to quit you, Tom O'Brien"

Go Pack.
Fuck the Heels.

gearing up for Bball

Granted I love football, the stewey's head shaped, not the copa mundal type so much, but bball is definitely a personal favorite - and with a greater frequency of viewing events, I think I understand it more. I certainly follow it more precisely (i think).

So of course I want to put this thinking to the test: to say I feel I know bball better than fball isn't to say I know much, but I'm wondering how I square up with the sportier folks out there - granted I could run the table on club ultimate matchups - and most college games.

Please let me know if someone already had this worked out and we can use a prearranged URL or software piece.

We all pool together teams we'd like to follow from college hoops day one through early april - local ACC and a few (sec? big east) other conference favorites and we pick their games weekly-ish; the winner and the spread or total points. (they're already talking about Calipari and Memphis on sports radio for some reason) We keep a database tracking the picks - 1 for a win 2 with the closest spread - and tally points through the season.

Would you all be interested in starting that with the onset of college ball?

eh?

Am I crazy?

Or does the league's first trade and the new look teams make the 0-5 Voodoo Cadillac and 2-3 Genuine Bakula matchup a must see this week? I have a feeling it will be high scoring. I know the Voodoo thinks his Karma Cadillac is going off this week. BAM!

Thursday, October 18, 2007

Look who's back, beeches!!

Koren Robinson reinstated!!!

Now, if anyone had been brave enough to draft him -- kudos for a huge set.

I cant man up, mainly because I have to keep my beloved QB in case Manning gets hurt, and my RB in case Henry gets fired. That leaves Dwanyne Bowe. Hmmm.....

Did I just notice our first ever trade on Ironic Title ?

Man, I'm so out of the loop.

Randy Moss & Steve Jackson for The Favre and Shaun Alexander.

Why did you guys even waste time w. the running backs ?

So...

I don't give a shit about Kobe or the Lakers, but I think this quote warrants a link.

If I'm here, I'm ready to strap it up

VooDoo God Sidekick, Declare This Curse Broken!

Once the Sidekick sanctifies my trade for Brett Favre, all you fuckers are toast. My team will run all over your asses. Only the Red Sox can come back from a 3-1 hole against the Yankees and only a Brett Farve-fueled VooDoo Cadillac can rally from 0-5 to win the playoffs.

'A come on baby take a ride with me
Up to Mississippi down to New Orleans
Tuck and roll a FM stereo
I got some Tony Joe White on my radio
I didn't get this here baby just a chopping on wood
I got 8 slapping pistons right here under my hood
Let's Ride!'

Yee Ha!

2nd highest paid

team in baseball can't get a pitcher through the 5th inning. . .

some of my most ardent UNC fans are also BoSox fans, does my sports world seem to be on the rise?

Wow. Blowouts really do make a difference.

So OTN is now up +60 on Sam Handwich - based solely on his blowout of the 'Crows.
The Hamwich himself is up a bundle on the Spooner Express.

So next weeks rumble betwixt those behemoths will set the stage for matchups against the the Express in weeks 8 (where OTN has to work around 3 byes) & 9.
Getcha popcorn ready, beeches.

*** SITE ADMIN NOTE ***
Tom Brady isnt on a bye until Week 10, when the Lake Lizards run into OTN.
Maybe Brady Quinn will be starting by then ???

Monday, October 15, 2007

Sweet sassy molassy!!!

Next week, my confidence is building.
P Diddy & LT on a bye.
Ronnie Ronnie Brown is playing the 'Pats.
Things are looking up for the Spooner Express!!!

OHHHH BILLY!!!!

Game of the week appears to be OTN vs. SH.
Getcha popcorn ready!!!
Brady may drop 14 TDs on the woeful Miami D.

***SITE ADMIN NOTE ***
Well, maybe the 'Crows aren't in such bad shape.
Drew Brees on the bench, and if the Tard Manning can light up the ATL, imagine what Mr. 500 can do?

Mother Puss Bucket!!! Why did I pick Seattle ...

in the suicide league?
I mean, come on, they were playing F-ing Naw 'Leons!!!

Well, Tzom, glad to join you on the loser bench (unless they have a major comeback while I'm asleep).

Why in the holy hell did I pick up Seattle's D???

How in the world are they getting beaten by Naw Leons?

Wow. To say today had some surprises....

So me putting the Voodoo Cadillac back in the shop for a lube & filter was kind of shocking.
Mad props to Derek Anderson, Kevin Curtis & the Housh for bringing their A games today.

But Offensive Team Name lighting up the Smallville Crows, who would have beat every other team on the Ironic Title schedule handily.... HFS.

F-ed in the A by the Commissioner

I finally manned up, dumped Calvin to get an RB, and my pick - Ahman Green -- GONE.
Thanks Commish.
So I ended up w. DeShawn Wynn, going up against the 'Skins.
Today is a day that shall live in infamy.

Holy shit that kid from Cal is stupid.

Trying to make a play and costing your team the game instead of throwing it away and putting it into your kicker's foot.

At #1 on the waiver list, all I can say is 'Yoink'

I know the can't cut list is a thing of the past, but Stephen Jackson?

Thursday, October 11, 2007

Looks like a headon collision

Between the Spooner Express, sans a RB, and the Voodoo Cadillac, sans a kicker.
And yet, Im still down 20.
Well, a boy can dream.

I think I have the QB advantage:
Warner vs. Carolina, Anderson playing Miami.
Punta Spooner.

WR - I think the Pats will hold T.O. down, but Moss is gonna go ape shit.
Point V.C.

Jacobs & Ward split carries, giving the advantage to V.C. actually having 2 RBs. Point V.C.

Ben Watson is my money shot - game of his life.
Undefendable by the 'boys.
Advantage Spooners, making up for missing RB.

TE - Chicago @ Minnesota vs. Philly @ J.E.T.S.
Point, Spooners.

Kicking game - Point, Spooners. In fact, many.

Defense probably a wash.

So it all comes down to Randy Moss vs. Ben Watson.
Who does Brady love more???

This weekend's spate of NFL games.

Early (1ish) - TENN @ TB (CBS)
Late (4:15ish) - NE @ DAL (CBS), CAR @ ARI (FOX)

Of course, there will be other games available (hopefully) via other methods...

Fire Emmit Smith NOW!!!

Following Buffalo's loss to Dallas last night, ESPN's Stuart Scott asked his fellow commentators, Steve Young and Emmitt Smith, that had they not known the outcome, with so little time remaining and with Romo's multiple interceptions, what two words would've come to mind:

Steve Young: Dallas. Lose.

Emmitt Smith: Dallas. Lose. Big. Time.

?

How many teams make the playoffs?

How did I miss this?

Or has everyone given up counting the things that can go wrong this season? Apparently, we shouldn't fire Italian coaches without expecting a curse...

Andre Brown has been lost for the season

Really?!? Testaverde! Seriously just wheel Marino out there. Why don't we dig up fucking Otto Graham while were at it.

Do I dare pick San Diego again?

Last survival pool I was knocked out when San Diego lost to huge underdog Kansas City at home. Despite my survival pool username and despite the fact that Norv Turner is a giant twat-rocket I'm thinking of picking the Bolts again this week. They are 10 point favorites at home against Oakland. They can't blow that can they??

KOD, would you mind endorsing Oakland this week?

Tuesday, October 9, 2007

Holy Crap!

Just read the article on the Dallas game! Romo does his absolute best to give this week to the Admir0l, a failed two point conversion, an onside kick, and a 50+ yard field goal (almost all of that happening in the last twenty seconds). What a shame it was happening around midnight when all good God (and Cthulhu) fearing folk are fast asleep.

The '72 Dolphins Can Rest Easy

and can pop a bottle of Lambrusco at least, as the last undefeated has fallen. Now we have a race!

Well, looks like the Voodoo Cadillac will get a win

When he goes up against the Spooner Express and the Week 6 debacle.
Who would have thought Romo would have 5 picks and a fumble and I would STILL lose?

If...If...If...
F-you Addai for pussing out and not getting me any puntas.

Accepting mantle of KOD for ITSTC

Just tell me who you want to lose and I'll root for 'em. I'm thinkin' I should rename Caleb to KRUSHITESKIVTY or whatever. Within weeks Duke Basketball will be about as prestigious as Duke Football. . .

augh

just tell me who to bring down and I'll tell everyone they're my team. . . .

Mad Love.... Mad Mad Mad love for Keyshawn

Except for the anger I feel towards the Panthers for dicking over Mr. 3rd Down, cutting him was Thee Best Thing Ever for MNF.
Having him on staff as an analyst is wonderful.
He really does bring a lot to the show - knowledge, insight, Hate for T.O., and the conjones to man up and tell Parcells he's being a jackass when necessary.
All in all, if T.J. ever dies or leaves, Key is definitely a keeper.

Alrighty, here is the First Big Trade of the Year

I'm really looking @ getting rid of Travis Henry -- but the deal is, I need a RB who has already had their bye.

There it is.

Not that I mind losing to MPtH v. 2.0

But the thing that hurts is having 2 dudes with aughts and only being down 2.
Of course, Romo is gonna get her 15-20, but dammmit, it at least could have been tight.

Currently Tied

Should I pull my defense tonight and settle for the tie to get off the schnide?

No baby I'm going for it, Wooo! You can go against America's Team, you know that baby, Wooo!

Sunday, October 7, 2007

I'm the guy who

shows up in the credits all season on any given survivor show even though I didn't survive the first fucking episode. TWICE now. . .

I think I'm gonna call Hines Ward on this one, why is it so hard for a fraction asian brother to make it in this league. . .

why'd green bay pick tonight to be a turnover machine.

again - every where I go, teams fail to surpass mediocrity.

I'm calling Mark Packer, there's a new Kiss of Death on the street. . .

dammit dammit dammit. . .

After the early games, here's where we stand, week 5.

OTN - 60
VC - 49

Notables left to play -
OTN - F. Gore, A. Gates, J. Elam, GB Defense
VC - T. Owens, J. Witten,

TSE - 53
MPTH2 - 60

Notables left to play -
TSE - J. Addai, T. Henry, P. Manning
MPTH2 - T. Romo, A. Crumpler, Chicago Defense

GB - 53
LL - 60

Notables left to play -
GB - B. Favre, W. McGahee, Dallas Defense
LL - N. Kaeding, Indy Defense

SC - 40
SH - 57

Notables left to play -
SC - P. Rivers, J. Galloway, J. Walker, L. Tomlinson, M. Barber III,
SH - R. Wayne, M. Lynch, D. Clark, D. Driver

Exciting early spate of games! Close scores, or with games without a close score, it's only because the down team has many players left to go!

O line at state?

So what's Tom OB gonna do about this offense we don't have. Granted the interceptions are directly the QB fault. But if they had a brief moment to hold onto the ball without running for their lives, they might make some better decisions?

And little Danny E had the shit knocked out of him, REPEATEDLY in the 4th - so who's the third stringer?

Someone please explain to me...

why in the fuck USC was still throwing with just over two minutes left and up 6? They weren't going to cover regardless of whether they got another score (the spread was 41), so why not use a couple of your horses, punch through a few first downs and call it a day?

Worst part; they'll probably still play for the national title.

A Little Love for Super Mario (sorta)

Per 'The Simmons':

Tennessee
It's just a shame Pacman Jones wasn't good enough to qualify for the Ewing Theory. Meanwhile, has there been a better ongoing football argument than the Williams-Bush-Young debate from the 2007 draft? At the time, everyone (including me) killed the Texans for taking Williams over Bush. If they did the draft over last January, Williams would have gone third and Young/Bush would have been a coin flip. If they did the draft right now, Young would unquestionably go first and Williams would unquestionably go second. Eight weeks from now, if Bush lights it up as New Orleans' starting back, the order could change again. Hell, it might change 10 more times in the next 10 years. I love this stuff.

Is it Me?

Or does Genuine Bakula actually have a shot this week?

I think I'm man enough to know when I'm beat.

Tray Dee, are you still looking to trade Randy Moss for a Top 5 Running Back ?

Lets give a mad shout out to our newest member.

The Sin City Wolf has joined the Survivor League.

Mr. Henry might be more than just day to day

Why can't we bet on things like this?

Travis Henry gets pinched.

Calvin - listed as probable.

Still, MPtHv2.0 is still +6 on me.

Response to Gregular's Wild Idea

I agree that Gregular's proposal to redraft with a four-team league shows some irrational exuberance. However, I do like the spirit of it and am making my own zany proposal. After the fantasy season is over and when the real NFL playoffs start, we could have another fantasy season. You would only draft players from teams in the playoffs. If your player's team is elimnated from the playoffs you hit the waiver wire or don't field anyone in the spot. We would go head-to-head. Your draft strategy would have to account for 1) how good a fantasy player someone is and 2) how fart into the playoffs their team will go. For example, you figure the Pats are going to the Super Bowl so the first round picks would probably include Brady, Moss, and Moroney. Any takers?

I'm sure no one scores this online but I'm willing to do the math on my own.

Can't cut list is now changed.

Trey, remember our deal...

Survival Football

Since the first one is already over, can we get another one going?

Idea after can't cut list is removed.

Not that I'm throwing in the towel just yet, but I have an idea once the can't cut list is removed.

Can we make it so that the top four teams only make the playoffs?
After this is agreed to, can we then have the rest of the teams not in the playoffs drop all their players, and have the rest of the four teams draft those players?

I like this idea for a few of reasons:
1.) Drafts are fun. (We could possibly make this an auction draft as a tryout for next years regular draft. Only 4 people make it easy, fewer players to pick up so there isn't alot of planning or math involved, but if there is one player that someone really wants, they'll blow all their money for that player, meaning they are done for the rest of the draft.)
2.) With only 12 possible players on each team the decision to pick up one of the dropped players to replace a current player will be interesting and difficult.
3.) For those that are keeping a player on the roster to keep for next year, interesting choices are made about replacing. Lets say an Andre Johnson for a Dwayne Bowe or a Tony Romo for a Peyton Manning. (Once you drop a player he can't be kept for next year.)
4.) The line ups for the two weeks of playoffs will be tremendous, probably high scoring, and hopefully have dramatic swings.
5.) I'm sure I'm forgeting some other wonderful reasons as well.

Now of course I know I would find this very fun whether I was a participant or an onlooker.

Thoughts?

How to Break the Curse that Favre Built

How can I break this curse? I just attempted to trade for Brett Favre (and quickly withdrew) hoping that my offering for Brett will appease him. Any other ideas?

Tuesday, October 2, 2007

Notice the above poll.

The can't cut list is currently f-ing the D in the A, so I'm looking to turn that feature off (which I can do as commish). It's normally used to prevent teams from dumping their good players to other teams, which I don't think will be an issue in our league. Vote, and plurality rules.

Can't Cut List

Hey commish, do you have the ability to alter the can't cut list? I'm not that fond of Donovan McNabb. He's been a bit of a pill lately. But I can't cut him. That doesn't seem alligned with his actual performance (1 great game, 3 stinkers).

Randy Moss on The Block

Randy Moss is still on the trading block. But I don't want to hear this Thomas Jones for the stud business. If you want Randy Moss - who has scored more points than every Running Back - you need to pony up. And by pony, I do mean Colt, and by Colt, I do mean Joeseph Addai. Seriously, though, I'll trade Randy Moss but it'll have to be for top 5 Running Back or a top 10 Running Back plus a top 5 quarterback.

At Least I Won Something

It went very unnoticed but Pooler and I recently shared the survival football title with 3 correct games. That doesn't sound like much but three would outscore most of my fantasy football starters.

Ouch. The Sidekick gets F-ed in the A

Philadelphia had 15 penalties for 132 yards, including a dreadful illegal forward pass against McNabb with 2:24 to play. It nullified a 20-yard touchdown pass to Reggie Brown and prevented the Eagles from drawing within 16-10.
