close, but no cigar.. again!

one can only sit and shake their head in regards to the two lackluster performances in the playoffs by the #1 seed and overall points leader for two consecutive years since joining the league.

'08 Minters Hard Hitters - Reg season title 9-5 @ 1378pts [2nd Place]
'09 Roadhouse Coolers - Reg season title 8-6 @ 1447pts [3rd Place]

with a solid foundation now built on its running backs, you can believe that the '10 "team to be named later" will return even stronger to make a hard run at finally hoisting the championship.

see you fellas on the gridiron next season!

btw.. Pink? seriously?? FH is still a FOX!! hands down..

MNF Bears/Vikings

I know that I have missed MANY more monday night football games than I have ever seen (I've watched more thursday night college than MNF).

Tonights had to be the best ever! Especially when the two schmoes beside me were matched for their Fantasy league. One had the bears defense and the other had both AP and Chester Taylor. . .

damn good fun.

the only thing missing was a place kicker tossing a touchdown.

CHAMPIONSHIP FEVER, CATCH IT!!!!!!

That's right 66-52 heading into the last two games!

Is it wrong that I liked Pink much, much better doing the SNF theme than Faith Hill?

Pack vs AZ

did anyone see this game? granted it ain't the Zona Wildcats of old, we were away without our leading scoring in the game and closed a 7 point gap in the closing minute losing in the closing seconds by a basket?

Talk about momentum surfing? We play toe to toe with Elon Wake AND Arizona.

Looking ahead to the draft.

So depending on how things play out, it looks like I have the #2 and #3 WR in the league, and if Miles Austin had played the first 5 games, I'd have the #1.
So that takes up my #3 and #11 picks.
Thomas Jones is old, but the question will be -- is a 32 year old Top 5 RB worth a 2nd round pick?
Leaving me with the quandry -- do I take Peyton Manning with a #1 pick ??? If it weren't for last weeks gonzo game against Pitt, PM would be the #1 QB in the league.
Regardless, since AR is locked up for the foreseeable future, taking Manning as #1 pick seems like my lot in life.

Assuming I hold onto Jones, that leaves me scrounging for a RB in the 4th round.

Looking at last years draft:

Anyway... lots of fun.

I'll be keeping my eye on CJ Spiller for sure.

My league end fun for all.

Not necessarily draft related; started on these yesterday before Sweetness posted his excellent write up. Decided to do a haiku for everyone in the league based on the season, plus one for the league as a whole. Hope you enjoy them:

League Haikus

League
Third year is the charm
Competitive balance, go!
Everyone was tied.

AJ
My score was tiny
But I won and won and won
Until I didn’t

Brent
Brees threw very well
Chris Johnson ran very far
One bad week doomed me

Greg
Never checked the team
Or so I said to the league
In the finals, though

Kevin
My draft was laughed at
More moves than Tom plus Tony
Manning should have played

Lee
Man crush on Brady
MJD was my keeper
Where is my jersey?

Pooler
Where did I go wrong
Was it T.O. in round three?
Worst season evah!

Shana
Matt Schaub or Rodgers
Through the season was my choice
Bleh! I chose poorly

Tom
Unsure of the rules
I did the best that I could
And almost made it

Tony
Thought I could win it
Picked out the Rivers jersey
Powder blue it was

Trey
QB’s score most points
Throughout our league’s history
Fuck it, Trent Edwards

Draft Analysis

So, based upon the Yahoo! Player Ranks as of the last day of the regular season, I've decided to judge each and every one of our draft day performances. Not sure I can thoroughly prove anything except that I have too much free time on my hands.

First, here's our 11th team called "The Land of Misfit Toys"or the best undrafted line up:
Brett Fav-re, Ricky Williams, Fred Jackson, Sidney Rice, Steve Smith (NYG), Robert Meachum, Vernon Davis, Kris Brown, and the New Orleans defense...they would've been on the play off bubble with 1312 regular season points.

The lack of waiver wire moves give it away... why would the Smallville Crows (The Oracle best draft award) tamper with the perfect draft? And with 11/12 of the draft picks keeper-eligible, the Crows won't need ice breakers at next year's draft. The Road House Coolers had a stable of stars but you don't win without defense and a defense it did not draft.

Mustprotecthishouse3 (Double Down best position picker award) made the best position picks by selecting the best quarterback (Aaron Rodgers), best receiver (Andre Johnson), and best kicker (David Akers) through the regular season.

In Yo Grill (Mr. Irrelevant best last round pick award) fought the burden of Brian Westbrook by selecting Hakeem Nicks in the last round. On a related note, SpoonerExpresRedux (Million to One Man best late round pick award) will be enjoying the services of Miles Austin for years to come. Were I not a better man, EH All Stars would win the most unfounded snarky comment award for draft day criticism of Miles....but EH All Stars (I Win at Chicken award for ballsiest pick that pans out) when he selected Brandon Marshall, the man staring down an indefinite suspension on draft day.

Sam Hamwich (Beast of Burden award for most annoying player you can't drop award) had the misfortune to deal with Matt Forte all season. Really would've been nice to drop his penchant for putting up 4's against any team better than the Rams but he'll be a value next year in the fifth round. And the Road House Coolers (401K Maximum Contribution award for best keeper) will be enjoying the services of Ray Rice in the 5th round, the best keeper. Oh and Chris Johnson in the 3rd and Vincient Jackson in the 6th and LeSean McCoy in the 8th and maybe even Pierre Thomas in the 2nd.

Maybe The G.O.A.T.s (Clean Plate Club award for fewest keepers) will keep Darren Sproles in the 4th next year but The Corn Rocket (Come On Eileen award for worst overall draft pick) will not keep Marshaun Lynch, let alone play the 3rd round pick.

The last award goes to ViableDraftStrategy (Admir0l's Cup award to honor the commish) served the league well...we should all thank him for tracking our every roster move throughout the season. And possibly buy the man a jersey since he's in the championship barring Jason Campbell's career game.

did anyone finish watching 'The League'? That shit was funny! The last episode with 'The Shiva Bowl' was just spectacular!

I think most, if not all of the episodes are available on Hulu.

One Less Reason to Watch the 4 Letter.

Gammons is leaving! In his honor, I present:

The Play Offs

So, here's how the playoffs look...there are 32 win/loss scenarios left and I tried each one.

The only team who will definitely make the play offs is EH All Stars, assuming there's no huge point differentials, especially with The G.O.A.Ts and The Corn Rocket.

Wins Required:
9 win scenarios
9 wins always makes the play offs...obviously it can only be EH All Stars

8 win scenarios
For EH All Stars, Road House Coolers, Spooner Express, Viable Draft Strategy, and In Yo Grill, 8 wins will get you in the playoffs, baring a momumental scoring effort by Corn Rocket and/or The G.O.A.Ts

The G.O.A.Ts make the play offs if they win and 1)SER loses and CR loses; or if 2) SER loses and has more points than CR

The Corn Rocket makes the play offs if 1) SER loses and TG lose; or if 2) SER loses and CR scores 8 points more than TG

7 win scenarios
One 7 win teams make the play offs in 8 scenarios...
8 times it's Spooner Express if he outscores RHC by 11 and VDS by 33
4 times it's Spooner Express, regardless of points
4 times it's Road House Coolers if has more points than SER
2 times it's Viable Draft Strategy with a momumental score and RHC loss and SER loss
Others coud do it but would have to score 70+ points more than everyone else

Viewed another way, and assuming no weird extreme differentials:
EH All Stars: 100% chance
Spooner Express Redux: 63% chance
Road House Coolers: 62% chance
in yo grill: 50% chance
ViableDraftStrategy: 50% chance
The G.O.A.Ts: 38% chance
The Corn Rocket: 37% chance
Mustprotectthishouse3: <1% chance

It's called 1st Place Suckas

Next week it'll be called 5th place.

So whatcha think of that beeches!

Watch Before Lunch

Viking's EJ Henderson breaks leg in a bad way.

C'mon man!!!!!

You mean to tell me that I got "vultured" by Michael Vick?!? He had played less than ten total snaps until this week and since the Eagles visited the ATL they decide to throw Vick a bone {no pun intended) and cost me some much needed production from McNabb! Not as if it would have helped me this week but darn it I need to vent. Geez, bad karma hit me pretty good this season. My wild college days with Mr. HEP must be catching up with me!

Reynolds Game Dec 12 2pm

I'm planning to take the C-monster. I just don't know that he'd appreciate a game at RBC. I'm going to try to get him there about 30-45 before tip off to get balcony seats midcourt. It seems that last time we got there on time and sat in the NW corner about even or just a little behind the basket.

Since it's general admission, there's no requirement to purchase tix together. But lemme know and I'll get yours too.

I'm going to get tix tomorrow or tuesday.

Pretty funny Brady-ism

"My first start came against the Colts," Brady said. "And Peyton came over on our field and said, 'Hey, Peyton Manning.' And I said, 'no shit.''"

Why I'm starting Vince Young

Monday, November 23, 2009

I think this is the biggest week of the season

with how close all the records seem to be, I think this week may secretly be the most important one of all...from a 'who DIDN'T you start' perspective.

Look at all the dead points on teams out there this week (winners and losers); also, remember points will be a (potential) huge tiebreaker come the end of the year. Some teams left 30 points on their bench this week!

I'm not sure we've had a week this year where so many people had big time performances from guys not playing.

And then

So, if you're holding a key Colt or Saint - Brees, Manning, & their receivers - are you feeling screwed out of a championship via a week 16 scratch?

Thursday, November 19, 2009

useless stats for dummies like me.

So I was worried about the prediction of points and opinion is that the provided projects are handily unreliable. Then I started worrying about how many points would one need to regularly score to win.

So I pulled the numbers through week ten and found that of the 50 wins the average winner earned 102.7 points/win. The lowest winning team points was the goat's week 4 win with 62 points against vds and the highest winning point total was humorously vds with 148 in week 6 against sc.

Yet the league leading goat has an average point per win of 91.2 pts/matchup. And our league trailing sh almost hit the average points per win right on the nose at 102.8 per win. (22 wins with above average points earned and 28 wins with below average points earned.

My summary question was answered (for a matchup in the first ten weeks). If you earn 80 or more points, you win 92% of the time.

Now to get the weather data to see if there is a tie in to weather and scoring.
Week 3 was the lowest week for winners with all five winners scoring under 100 pts, with an 89.8 average. Week 6 was the best with an average at 112.2, but only 3 of 5 winners scored higher than the average?

Tuesday, November 17, 2009

Wait for the end...

First, you'll laugh, then you'll be (possibly) uncomfortable, then you'll laugh again...then, if you're an NC State fan, you'll get just a little angry.

Mathematically, It's Possible

Can we all finish dead even? Or even all at 6-6?

I looked at our schedules and it is possible for all teams to 6-6 but (Sidekick check the math) it's approx a 1/1024 chance of that happening (Or only 1 possible route with 2^10 games). That computes to 0.1% chance.

As for all of us ending up 7-7, well that's a little more complicated. There are 1,048,576 possible combos of our remaining games. There are 108 scenarios where all 10 teams end up 7-7...total likelihood is 0.01%, assuming every game's outcome is a coin flip.

Monday, November 16, 2009

Oh shit.

Ronnie Brown(notes) sprained his ankle in the third quarter against the Bucs and didn't return. With Miami scheduled to play on Thursday night in Week 11, his availability is in serious doubt: "But, in all likelihood, it will keep him out of Miami's next game Thursday at Carolina. 'Obviously, I can't really talk about it right now,' Brown said. 'We've still got to do some tests and see what happens. We did some X-rays. I don't think it's too bad.'" If you've got Ricky Williams(notes) on the roster, you can't sit him in the we

We aren't likely to learn much about Michael Turner's(notes) ankle injury until Monday afternoon. There's no obvious reason to expect him to shake it off, though. His foot was in a boot after the Falcons' loss to Carolina. These were his postgame comments when asked if the team told him the extent of the injury: "They wouldn't say [anything] right now," Turner said. "I'm just going to keep an open mind. It's an ankle sprain. We'll take it from there and just do what we can do."

Sunday, November 15, 2009

any chance of 71+ defensive points?

predicted points vs actual

is there a method to compare the accuracy of the predicted output against the real values. as a rookie I make some/many decisions based on the projected points. is there any data saying that this far in the season that the projection has been reliable. Anecdotally, IYG is 50 behind the predicted output; as is RHC. Of course 50 behind 80 and 50 behind 120 are far cries apart. .

It Really Could Happen

Looked at the scores and it's entirely possible this week ends with 8 teams at 5-5 along with a 4-6 and 6-4. Now that would be sweet.

No Need to Play Them

I went ahead and put each player through a statistical model to create a distribution of scores. Then I put the players on the right team to make the best starting roster for each of us. Then I ran our actual fantasy football schedule to see the final results. I then played every game 100,000 times. All scores are based on past performance so a player like Ryan Moats doesn't get much credit since he came on late. The strength of the NFL schedule is not accounted for, either. Also, I can't take into account any injuries so a guy like Clinton Portis gets to play this week even though it's doubtful. Obviously, I can't adjust for future injuries.

So what do we have? The class of the league is Spooner Express who also has an easy schedule. Smallville Crows aren't getting their due as a tough schedule down the stretch eats them. The most lop-sided game in the future is In Yo Grill over Sam Hamwich (wins 91.2% of the time). The closest game is Mustprotectthishouse over The GOATS (55.6% chance).
Average Score (No Kickers or Defense)

Spooner 86
Road House 84
Corn Rocket 79
In Yo Grill 79
Viable Draft Strategy 76
Smallville Crows 74
Mustprotect 71
The GOATS 70
EH All Stars 63
Sam Hamwich 62

The Week's Games

Corn Rocket 65% chance of beating Smallville Crows
Spooner 78% chance of beating Mustprotecthishouse
In Yo Grill 76% chance of beating The GOATS
Road House Coolers 83% chance of beating EH All Stars
Viable Draft Strategy 77% chance of beating Sam Hamwich

The Season Results

Road House Coolers 10-4 1313
SpoonerExpressRedux 9-5 1287
In Yo Grill 9-5 1249
Mustprotecthishouse 8-6 1185
The Corn Rocket 8-6 1147
Smallville Crows 7-7 1257
ViableDraftStrategy 7-7 1236
The G.O.A.Ts 5-9 1100
EH AllStars 4-10 1109
Sam Hamwich 3-11 1010

Lots of fun last night.

T Bone & I went back & forth a couple times before Hines Ward bent me over and ended my winning streak.

Someone Call Me a Liar

The Viable Draft Strategy - Must Protect This House affair isn't over yet, but it appears the week may end with all but the last place team at 5-4 or 4-5. Remarkable parity. My theory is that there have been no injuries, very few 'bust' players, and owners of a bust player were off set by a surprise.

Lack of Notable Injuries: Owen Daniels. That's it. Westbrook (IYG), Calvin Johnson (CR), and Gore (CR) have missed 2-3 games each.

Bust/Surprise Offset:
In Yo Grill: Westbrook bust for Cedric Benson
Road House Coolers: L Tomlinson & Steve Smith bust for Ray Rice
Corn Rocket: Calvin Johnson bust for Steve Smith and Joe Flacco

Sadly, there's Sam Hamwich who drafted well but got screwed. Busts include Boldin, Terrell Owens, and a borderline for Matt Forte...not off set by any surprises.

So here we are, all tied up and starting down the stretch. I say the winners avoid the injury bug cause this is too close to call.

Okay, First Time I Feel Good at the 4 O'Clock Games

Believe it or not, my top 5 draft picks still have not all been active in a single week. I'm hoping next week it can happen.

I'm rocking my dad's frat pick'em league, too. If San Fran, Detroit, and NY Giants all win I"m atop their standings. New Orleans winning helps, too, but since only 1 of the hundred people picked Carolina I can just root for my home team.

Huzzah!!!!

Housh has scored a point!

Cocksucker.

Dec 12 tix

I'm going to get some seats at the Reynolds game again. Dec 12th (saturday) against GA Southern, I believe. . .

Anyone wanna join the C-train for a Reynolds game?

I'll probably take him to some high school basketball this year too so he can see it up close. I think the seats we would get at RBC are too far from/above the court for C to enjoy.

Find the Funny.

12. 1947 Yankees (95-57, .630. plus-226, won World Series in seven games)Joe DiMaggio was named AL MVP despite hitting only 20 homers and driving in 97 runs. Why? Because he was Joe DiMaggio, that's why. (Actually, those were pretty good numbers for that year: He was sixth in homers and third in RBIs.) The team's secret weapon was reliever Joe Page, who pitched 141 innings, won 14 games and saved 17. So he threw as many innings in one year as Mariano Rivera throws in two. Take that, Mariano! (Although Mariano wasn't saddled with the nickname "The Gay Reliever." Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

Damn you AJ for stealing the ATL defense.

Jason "Checkdown" Campbell was supposed to be my target this week.
Oh well. Anyone have any trade bait for the Seattle D ? They're playing the Lions this weekend.

BTW -- I think there is a game tonight, so get your rosters updated ASAP.

Time for some meaningless stats!

Since we're near the middle of the season, thought I'd throw out my HTHTHTHTHTHTHTHTH standings, plus a few bonus stats!

Current standings:

1)Crows - 5-2
2)GOATS - 5-2
3)Grill - 4-3
4)Draft - 4-3
5)Spoon - 3-4
6)Cool - 3-4
7)HOOOSE- 3-4
8)EH - 3-4
9)Rocket- 3-4
10)Pooler 2-5

Of course, some people catch bad breaks here and there (having a huge week, only to catch a matchup with the highest scoring team of the week). If we each played EVERYONE else every week, here's what the standings would look like:

1)Crows - 43 wins
T2)Grill - 39 wins
T2)Spooner - 39 wins
4)Draft - 35 wins
5)HOOOOSE - 34 wins
6)Coolah! - 32 wins
7)EH - 29 wins
T8)Goat - 24 wins
T8)Corn - 24 wins
10)Poolah (still) - 15 wins

What do we learn from this? Tony's good, Pooler, not so much. AJ has caught a few breaks along the way, and everybody else is about where they need to be based on scoring.

Some other interesting stats:

Toughest schedule (highest per week average against) - Pooler, his opponents are scoring an average of 100 points per week.

Easiest schedule (lowest per week average against) - AJ, his opponents are scoring an average of 80 points per week.

No surprises with highest and lowest average scores (Crows and Handwich).

The GOAT's have been the most consistent team week to week: his average score is 82, his median 82, with a standard deviation of only 12 points.

I've been far and away the least consistent: average of 97, median of 88 (my 148 point week helped with that), with a standard deviation of 28 points!

Something that I've thought about undertaking (but won't) is looking at everyone's record had they played their "optimum lineup", in an attempt to gauge the relative strength of everyone's team (but even I don't have enough free time for that).

I'll try and get the spreadsheet up onto Google docs sometime today for those of you interested. I'm sure Sweet Dee will be doing some kind of statistical analysis on the teams in the next few weeks as well.

MPTH3.0 = Pure Genius

Does anyone realize that Matt Schaub has the MOST points in our league. That's right the MOST!

Not APete, not Mr. Bundschen, not Double Stuff League, not Birthmark face, and not little MJD.

It's Freaking "Matt Schaub"

Unbelievable!

Shout out to Ray Rice for being the 3rd best RB in the league.

The curse of over thinking

So Ronnie Brown is going up against New Orleans next weekend.
OR I have Pierre Garcon going against St. Louis.

What to do! What to do !

SST&BF members, lend me your votes!!

Monday, October 19, 2009

I thought...

that Norv Turner was some kind of offensive guru?! He doesn't seem to know how to correctly use the personnel at his disposal. Wasting screen passes on LT?! Running a halfback dive with Sproles from the three yard line!? He seems a little confused to me. Sure I would have loved to see Sproles punch it in on that goal line attempt but give him a play better suited for his ability...half back toss maybe or play action and throw it to him in the flats. I can't prove it just yet but I think Norv is out to ruin my fantasy season! Update may follow.

UPDATE:

I've got another bone to pick with "Coach" Turner. What's up with bringing Sproles in on third down to block!!?? Either swing him out or leave LT's big butt in the game!!!

UPDATE:

12pts is not unrealistic with more than half the game left for the Spooner Express (trailing 89 - 101) to make up. Eddie Royal is sure making it interesting...oh yeah, let us not forget about the Denver defense!!

UPDATE:

WTF!!!!! On third and three they motion Sproles out wide and he doesn't even run a route!!!! Not one single step forward or backward when the ball is snapped!!?? WTF is going on here????

UPDATE:

SCREW YOU "COACH" TURNER!!! We'll get ours on special teams!

Why does Matt Millen have a job in football ???

Hasn't the man proven he knows little if anything about football???

Career lows. Wow. I really know how to pick'em.

New player notes Mon, Oct 19

Hasselbeck posted a career-low 32.5 quarterback rating Sunday, completing only 10-of-29 passes for 112 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.

Recommendation: Perhaps most disappointing about this game is it came against a Cardinals defense that was the worst in the league against the pass. Hasselbeck, though, is suffering from a makeshift offensive line that can't protect him (five sacks) and can't run block (franchise-low 14 rush yards).
(Rotowire.com)

Two matchups still up in the air

MPTH v3.0 vs RHC and GOATS vs EH All Stars.

Will it be the Bills' field goal against the Jets in OT that sinks MPTH? Will Steve Smith's goose egg against TB be the deciding factor for RHC?

The Giants really let the GOATS down yesterday, can Sproles take up the slack? Fortunately for the GOATS, the Minny defense was nearly as bad, and throw in a nil from Maclin (against the Raiders, really?), and you're looking at an exciting Monday night.

GO OFFENSE!!!!

3 TDs in 3 minutes

The Pats are kind of good

Jeebus

Anyone see the Dante Wesley play/fight in the Panther's game? I like the Panthers but that was dirty.

It's about time

DeAngello Williams gets his first touchdown of more than twenty yards (after tying Walter Payton's record last year).

Why the World Cup is great!

This is the reaction from the Honduras announcers in the US/Costa Rica WC Qualifier. The US' tying goal put Honduras into the WC for 2010.

Note: Volume MUST be on and preferably at ear screeching volume

Big Fan

Has anyone seen Big Fan? I think it's out of the Raleigh market but I've wondered if it's worth tracking down.

Monday, October 12, 2009

Ah well....

I was hoping for the undefeated season but that was truly unrealistic. Especially when Willis MaGahee only gets two touches the whole game without being injured and then this happens:

Sun, Oct 11

Sims-Walker is a surprise inactive for Sunday's game against Seattle due to a violation of team rules, the Jaguars' official site reports.

NO ONE KNEW ABOUT THIS!!!! Even the fantasy guru, Matthew Berry, was calling Sims-Walker a top 5 receiver play only minutes before the game started. Oh well, had to lose sometime. Now that thats out of the way time to focus on winning the championship!

Ninja edit:

UPDATE:
Nice touch Ninja!

Its looking as if I dont have the patience for FF

The Solja drops like 19 pts after I drop him.

Even Eddie Royal's 9 points is 9 more than both my receivers COMBINED.

Well, you cant win'em all

Or, in the case of State, win the one's against one of the crappiest teams in the nation.

rookie question #2

So how do I deal with the bye week for my tight end/kicker/defense

Do I just let it ride and take the hit on their nonexistent production since this is a keeper league?

How does the waiver thing work?

How do trades work, I've been solicited a couple of times now and I don't even know what/how to respond, regardless of whether or not I can determine if I want to participate.

Help a rookie out:

SO my starting QB and my reserve (Cutler/EManning) are fairly equal earners and they both appear to be facing fairly pitiful defenses (Lions/Chiefs respectively). Any other things I should look at as I consider starters for sunday?

MRB for MWR

Me: a starting running back for a team with a good offense (Gore, McGahee, Jacobs, Lynch, Williams).

You: a starting wide receiver for a team with a good offense (Moss, Wayne, Johnson, etc).

Looking to trade one-for-one.

Anyone have a mid/late round WR to trade

for Anthony Gonzalez -- he should be back in 2 weeks.

Anyone have a late round RB to trade

for Matt Cassell ???
I'd prefer a draft pick instead of a free agent pick up

That Bengal 2 Point Conversion

was a thing of beauty.

Frank Gore

Got a bone to pick with you.

Braggarts Suck

but my team doesn't. In West Virginia's 8-man league I posted a score of 187. Obvi I started Frank Gore and Chris Johnson but Phillip Rivers, Andre Johnson and the Baltimore defense didn't hurt my case.

He REFUSED......

to let me lose this week! Coming into the Monday night game I was down 71-90 to Mustprotecthishouse3.0 with little hope of pulling out a victory. I had only one player in the in the Monday night game...my tight end, Dallas Clark. I'd personally never seen a TE go for 20 plus points in a fantasy but I drafted him so high on his potential for big games and his ESP with Peyton Manning. But, as in poker, I must apologize to Mustprotecthishouse3.0 for the "bad beat." Also I'd like to take a second to quote the great Ric Flair...."whooooooooooooo!" That is all.

Desean Jackson looking like a solid pick

KENDRA WILKINSON – her husband Hank Baskett, who is a wide receiver for Philadelphia, was cut from the 53-man roster to make room for Mike Vick. So forget about shots of Kendra in a slutty Eagles jersey during the game and in tabloids. It would seem head coach Andy Reid has a lot to learn about modern football. (foxsports)

first weekend FF thoughts

So I still don't have the best grasp of what constitutes good return for players. The matchup feature is good for that - thanks CornRocket for the tip.

I was feeling like I was creeping closer to what could be my first matchup victory (not expecting a lot out of my first season) and the Bears/Packers Game was in the closing minutes. Little did I realize how important that 3rd down pass was until I glanced at the tracker to see the Goat score light up. And some salt to the wound: Cutler tosses a pick that was one QB push from a pick six. . .

It's like being a State fan on sunday.

Jeezus.

My week one is going to come down to the mutherfucking dad from the mutherfucking 'A Christmas Story'.

He's so dreamy!!!

Brady is confirming that he and model Gisele Bundchen are expecting a baby.

Why I love fantasy football

Do I start Desean Jackson against the Carolina pass defense (ranked 11th), or Anthony Gonzalez against the Jacksonville pass defense (ranked 18th).
The hard rock I've got myself stuck between is that I also have Peyton Manning -- do I want to put all my eggs in one basket -- looks as if Yahoo calculates puntas based on avg previous performance, so Manning gets 250 ish yards, 2 TDs per game, but last game he lit them up for 350+ , 3 TDs.

What to do, what to do !!!

Shut the hell up during the national anthem

It's gotten very annoying during NC State football and basketball games when jackasses who think sports are the most important thing out there continue to yell "RED!" during the national anthem.
I was sorely embarrassed by the behavior of our fans at every game I went to last season. I managed to go to a game @ UVa this weekend, and to listen as a crowd joyfully sang the national anthem and did not behave like 4 year olds was overwhelming and wonderful. Anyway, if you aren't going to act like an American who loves all of their country, please shut the hell up and let the rest of us enjoy the national anthem. Oh, and take your hats off please.

If I gave you a million guesses.....

I'm not sure you would even get close to who Venus Williams boyfriend is. It is crazy and I'm not even sure how they were introduced.

Throw out some guesses. Please don't look it up and be a pooper.

Hint: He is also an athlete.

(Only two people will probably find this interesting, and even know who this person is.)
