It happens halfway through every basketball/football season in the ACC. I get that warm, fuzzy feeling becase, evne though we're 6th in the ACC, we control our own destiny in a series of winnable games and would end up 2nd in the ACC. Who is ahead of us? Duke(8-0), UNC (6-3), Maryland (5-3), Clemson (4-3), and Virginia Tech (5-4). Who are our next four games against? Maryland, BC, Clemson, and UNC. If we win them all and UNC loses one more, then we're second in the ACC at 8-4.
That warm, fuzzy feeeling inevitably turns to disgust when we're 7-9 and I wonder how we got there.
Then the warm, fuzzy feeling returns when we're in the ACC finals. Then we lose to Duke or UNC and play in the NIT.

3rd is realistic, because UNC is actually 6-2, so they would need them to lost one more game outside of the head to head.
That being said, I'm definitely a believer especially if they can win their next game and get over .500 in conference.
uh, if they don't learn to play perimeter D OR get a point guard back to replace Quentin, UNC may lose moret than one more.
Of course, we have to win a lot more. . .
