Bye Bye JJ

So I was talking with my sources in athletics and it's doubtful JJ will return for another year. Apparently bigs are hard to keep in college because the NBA want them coached for the NBA at the earliest age possible. Unlike, say a guard, that they want to have college experience. That and his mom is poor.

If the NBA wants 'em, I wish they would just take 'em. Is 'one and done' good for anyone?

devil's advocacy here:

talent attracts talent, and landing a recruit like Hickson, giving him play time to show his mettle with probably attract some more players who may not quite have his potential as an NBA player but still be a darned good college player.

The college game will adapt. Hopefully it won't go all the way to full princeton or full run and gun so that there'll be something for everyone to enjoy.

I hear what you're saying. If these types are coming and going all the time, then the team's system certainly can adjust. I just think Sid had a huge challenge this year with a team full of guys devoted to the 4-year plan and one really talented kid who was too good to sit on the bench. How do balance those egos to get a cohesive team?

Sid obviously didn't have an answer all year.
