Last in division while UNC is second in theirs?

Where's the rest of the outrage? IF they reranked the group as a set of twelve rather than two sets of six, where would we fall then in a meaningless preseason ranking?

My ire was really up that the Herald Bung article made only one mention of State in the article while repeatedly quoting Davis and Cutliffe. And that mention was "rounding out the division. . . . . . NC State."

I'm burning some extra incense for the health of our running back posse and hopes that the O-line can hold open enough gaps to spring them free. I am not confident about our Qback quandry. Hopefully we'll put up fewer than 4 INT/game this go 'round. . .

Well, I hate to say it, but the standings are probably pretty accurate. Looking at the schedule, here's what I see:

8/28 @ South Carolina L
9/06 William & Mary W
9/13 @ Clemson L
9/20 East Carolina L
9/27 South Florida L
10/04 Boston College L
10/16 Florida State W
10/25 @ Maryland W
11/08 @ Duke W
11/15 Wake Forest L
11/22 @ North Carolina W
11/29 Miami (FL)L

This puts us at 5-7 overall and 4-4 in league play (that's assuming we show up for the Thursday night game against FSU and can beat Carolina).

Looking over the division, the only team that I see that we have a chance to finish ahead of is Maryland. I think that Clemson, FSU, and Wake can all contend for the division title, and I don't know enough about BC to rate them.

Over in the Coastal, we should be better than Duke (we'll see if we actually are), and Tech (provided Johnson doesn't work some kind of miracle over there). I think UNC is one year ahead of us in development right now, but I have faith that TOB will get us over the hump.

Overall, our O-line needs to improve (which it should in their second year in the system), and we need a QB that can throw the ball farther than 5 yards down field with some accuracy.

I don't see us bowling this year, but next year, provided recruiting goes well, I could see us playing in one of the upper echelon bowls for the conference.

So what you're saying is: Only 5 more weeks until the ulcers return ???

Holy shit! The FSU game is the precise FIVE year anniversary of the last time I saw the Pack win in Carter Finley in person.

Nah, no ulcers; we know this team isn't going to be that great. Just sit back, relax, and hope they play hard. Read an article today where one of our Frosh QB's is a beast (brother of the kid at Va Tech); he's competing for the job this year, but I expect he'll be our starter for the 3 following years.

I haven't seen for myself, but I read the over/under on NC State wins is 5.5. Sidekick, would you like the under?

I am taking the over on the 5.5 wins and expect a bowl this season. Crazy thing is each of these games except for Clemson is winnable

I'm calling 7-5 and 4-4 in league play.

8/28 @ South Carolina L (If not at SC this might be a pick'em)
9/06 William & Mary W
9/13 @ Clemson L
9/20 East Carolina W (did you assume a loss here, because of recent history)
9/27 South Florida W (this is the upset, sort of)
10/04 Boston College L
10/16 Florida State L (I think they are much improved this year)
10/25 @ Maryland W (if it were at CF I'd be more confident
11/08 @ Duke W
11/15 Wake Forest W (depleted team, Grobe is the only thing that's makes this a game at CF)
11/22 @ North Carolina W
11/29 Miami (FL)L (No clue which UM team will show up this year)
