Interesting little factoid

Tonight is the 15th anniversary of the Jimmy V "Dont ever give up!" speech.
Now, when was the speech against Duke ?
I REALLY thought that would have gotten us up and just gotten us a gutsy win, or maybe Coach K would find a wee bit of sympathy and play the 2nd team.
Nope.

One of Valvano's most memorable motivational speeches was delivered February 21, 1993 at Reynolds Coliseum on NCSU's basketball court during the ten year commemoration of the University's 1983 NCAA championship. It was during this speech that Valvano stressed the importance of hope, love, and persistence and included his famous "Don't give up, don't ever give up" quotation.

And I was at that game! I seem to recall that the Pack was even leading at the half before the inevitable occured. Lakista must not have been feeling it that day.

Second Lakista shout out in a week! It's a record! He didn't get this much thought even when he was at state!

NC State upsets No. 1 North Carolina, 90-70, in Raleigh as guard Lakista McCuller his six 3-pointers and scores 24 points, while center Todd Fuller adds 16 points and 11 rebounds. Twenty-four miles away in Durham, Clemson, projected to finish last in the ACC, stuns No. 11 Duke, 75-70, as all seven Tigers that see action hit 3-pointers

I assume this was the famous "I fucking love you Les" game.
