Looking ahead to the draft.

So depending on how things play out, it looks like I have the #2 and #3 WR in the league, and if Miles Austin had played the first 5 games, I'd have the #1.
So that takes up my #3 and #11 picks.
Thomas Jones is old, but the question will be -- is a 32 year old Top 5 RB worth a 2nd round pick?
Leaving me with the quandry -- do I take Peyton Manning with a #1 pick ??? If it weren't for last weeks gonzo game against Pitt, PM would be the #1 QB in the league.
Regardless, since AR is locked up for the foreseeable future, taking Manning as #1 pick seems like my lot in life.

Assuming I hold onto Jones, that leaves me scrounging for a RB in the 4th round.

Anyway... lots of fun.

I'll be keeping my eye on CJ Spiller for sure.

Keeper list sent out to all -- a couple are glaringly obvious keepers -- CJ & RR for the RHC -- the ones I find intriguing are Donovan McNabb and Joseph Addai. Besides Miles Austin, I think Cedric Benson was the steal of the draft.

Rear Admir0l said...

That doesnt "ignore" Aaron Rogers, because he was one of the steals of the '08 draft, obviously behind CJ.

I would think Tony keeps everyone from Shiancone down.

BOLD prediction -- Vernon Davis gets drafted before the 5th round.

What to do, what to do, what to do about Calvin Johnson ????

Is Brandon Marshall a 2nd round pick ??? I wouldnt think so, but we thought TO in the 3rd was an ok pick.
Maclin is a definite keeper, but Warner seems like a toss up.

Also -- for MPTHv3.0 -- Schaub & Rogers are obvious, but Knowshon & Crab .... toss ups ??

Mendenhall & Harvin for sure, but what to do about Matt Ryan ???

I THINK Tzom keeps Addai, Benson & Hicks -- besides Brent, he's in the driver seat since he has his top tier RBs wrapped up with 3rd & 5th round picks. Use the 1st & 2nd to go after the CROWD of WRs that are coming off of Keeper status -- Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, etc... then get a top quality TE in the 4th and maybe even keep the 'Tard Manning in the 7th.
Look out Ironic Title -- I predict a RHC & IYG finals for 2010.

Mr. Pooler, Mr. Pooler, Mr. Pooler.
The good news is that Big Ben dropped 500 yards and a passel of TDs last week -- bad news... you of course had a dismal season.
MAYBE keep Big Ben ????

There really are only 10 good TEs. Owen Daniels blew his leg off in like week 3 and is still the #11 over TE.

Maybe Greg is right and defense DOESNT matter.

The drop off in scoring between the #1 and #10 Defense is 20% -- 10 pts a game vs. 8 pts a game. Did anyone lose by 2 ?

#1 TE to #10 = 50% , or 10 pts a game vs. 5. I KNOW several of us lost by 4 or 5 pts.

#1 to #10 WR -- 20+% 2 pts a game.

#1 to #10 Kicker, 20% -- 2 pts a game.

QB -- 30%, almost 5 a game.

Me thinks that QBs and TEs are the difference makers. We'll see.

Sorry you're the only one replying to your thread. I think I can keep Hines Ward unless keeper means not having benched them.. . .

who has the Colt's TE? Clark?

More importantly, what the hell (where?) are you doing for christmas day that you've got the time for this?

notes: this was the first BIG Christmas for Caleb, he really knew the gift end of it and the fun. And as his last year as a solo child, he got more than he should have. . .

Capt. BusinessTime said...

I've got Clark and I'm definately keeping him. He carried me on his back to at least 3 wins.

The Greguar said...

Other than the first two te (Davis and Clark I assume) what the difference between 3-10. The big thing about drafting tes is because you only need one instead of 3 of each for rbs and wrs it's easy to wait.

One of my requests is that the flex can be anyone which should make things very interesting week to week.

The Greguar said...

Marshall could be a second rounder. Depends where though. First pick of second round, no. Last pick, maybe.

Rear Admir0l said...

@ Tbone: you CAN keep Hines Ward, but it would take a 4th round pick -- and as mentioned, you already have great RBs and a decent QB, so instead of getting a 2nd tier WR with that 4th round pick, MY NSHO is to go after a #1 TE

BTW -- thoughts on this RB from Cleveland that went ape shit his last 2 games -- flash in the pan or next Jamaal Lewis ???

The Sidekick said...

Well, he's 40 pounds lighter than lewis, so he's not going to be nearly as effective between the tackles as Lewis has been in his career, plus that huge game was against the Chiefs.

the SK probably could have had a pretty good game against them. . . IN the new shoes? Hell yes!
