I think I can explain away my season with one player:

7. Randy Moss(notes) redefines “fantasy bust”

There’s never been a non-injury fantasy collapse quite like this one. Last year, Randy Moss was fantasy’s second-highest scoring wide receiver, finishing behind only Andre Johnson(notes) in both total and per-game points. This year, Moss is well outside the top-50 at his position. He’s been outscored by such luminaries as Jordan Shipley(notes) and Ben Obomanu(notes).

Moss can’t blame his surroundings, either. He began the year as a member of the Patriots, a team that currently leads the NFL in passing TDs (31) and total scoring (31.9 points per game). New England, of course, has been better without Moss. He was merely a high-maintenance decoy for the Pats, then an even higher maintenance decoy for the Vikings. And now he’s a little-used member of the Titans receiving corps, who may or may not be a habitual sports radio caller.

Serious answer(s):

1) You did too little roster maneuvering. Looking back at your transaction history, 97% of your roster moves happened on Wednesdays. This indicates that you just made your roster moves on Mondays and then let the waiver wire work its mojo. Our lige is built on the waiver wire, so you've really got to spend some time surfing for some of those deep sleepers if you're going to be successful.

2. You did too much roster maneuvering. I know you had some injuries, but your number of roster moves were a full 2 standard deviations above the mean. Nothing good can happen with that much movement. I think you tended to react too quickly to positives and negatives without looking at the long term impact of the decisions (easy to say in hindsight, I know).

3. You did got unlucky with Moss. But Greg got unlucky with Gore. Tony got unlucky with Addai. Shana got unlucky with Matthews (OK, bad example). You've got to learn when to fish and when to cut bait.

4. Why did you drop Ryan Fitzpatrick??!!!?!???

I just dont have the intestinal fortitude to make it through bye weeks without freaking the fuck out.

Theres always next year.... ummm.... maybe.

BTW -- I still want to add in punt & KO return yardage to scoring.
