Andruw Jones

On PTI today, Mr. Tony mentions that up until last year, Andruw was on pace to be a HOFer; I laughed, then looked here. If you look at the section 'Similar Batters through Age 30', JEEZUS!

  1. Frank Robinson
  2. Eddie Mathews
  3. Johnny Bench
  4. Al Kaline
  5. Sammy Sosa
  6. Ken Griffey
  7. Ruben Sierra
  8. Ron Santo
  9. Juan Gonzalez
  10. Duke Snider
5 HOFers, 1 for sure HOFer (Griff), 1 should be HOFer (Sosa), and 1 want to be HOFer (Santo).

What the hell happened to this guy? He's hitting under the Mendoza line, and doesn't look to be things around at this point...is this the greatest 'falling off the face of the earth' ever?

So.... protection in the lineup, a lazy work ethic, and more than anything a pure stubbornness not to change his swing plane since he's lost some of that athletic ability due to his lack of work ethic. He's not even one of the best active 5 defensive outfielders anymore. Sad waste of talent that doesn't get enough play.
