Question for the 'guar...

Does UF pay for this?

Do these kids get some kind of insurance policy by being athletes, or is this something that the parent's insurance has to take care of?

Good question. Shame by the way. One of the best all around athletes on the team with tons of experience.

If you are talking health insurance to pick up the cost of medical services to fix the knee. this is how it works.

Essentially at UF, students get free on campus health care, which can include Shands Hospital complex and all related centers. (Arguably the best hospital in the state, and one of the best in the country)

The football team at UF has every imaginable piece of medical equipment in their training center including multiple X-Ray, state of the art open MRI, etc. Doctors at Shands work on athletes free of charge, and are allowed to do so by NCAA rules because they are university staff and the NCAA provide quality health insurance for athletic related injuries, rehab, etc.

So with all of these things combined and someone else doing the paperwork, athletes are covered.

Now if we are talking about insurance to protect his career, the parents have to pay for that.
