So my fantasy team is 2-1.
I have 3 of the top 5 WRs in the league.
I have a top 5 QB and a top 5 TE (one who has a QB to throw to him)
As much as I wanted to hold onto Vernon -- pretty sure that Rex Checkdownicus will be dumping off enough to make even me happy.
However... I'm completely freaking out about Jahved Best's toe.
I stay up late dreaming about turf toe.
I tend to forget how insane bye weeks make me -- having to start Donald Brown is making me loopy.
I also forgot how bad RBs get beat up during the season and that injuries are a BIG part of the game.
So... all that being said, I'm pretty sure AJ is going to whip the ever living shit out of me this weekend.

BC game tix advice?
the game I think I want to try for is the BC game, possibly with all four of my little home party. Mintcy and Nora have never been. Any recommendations on how to get tickets/parking?
I looked on craigs list and there are a few things, but it seems like I could do better with scalpers for straight price.
Anyone know someone looking to sell 2-3 tickets and maybe a parking pass?
Anyone else interested in going and expanding the group a little. There were some folks on craigslist selling groups of 4. . .

If You're Flush
I have the option to buy box seats for the VT game. $292/ticket and includes food and parking.

Haven't been so proud of the Pack in a long time.
Honestly, going into the game I had chaulked us up as 3-1, considering that Tech won the ACC last year ( I THINK).
I knew they ran the option really well and that we have a long, sordid history of losing big games.
So to see us play a solid defensive game, have solid running & passing, pretty good defensive special teams ( looks like we have to wait on Cam to grow up so we'll have a good kicker) and to whip the shit out of a good team on the road... all of that just made me REALLY happy.
I know I'm not alone in thinking "THIS is what we've been expecting from Tom O'Brian for 5 years".
Barring injuries, I can't but imagine we're going to a bowl -- set your calendars now, boys.

Waiver Priority
Can someone explain to me how the waiver wire priority is created? Why do the two teams that have not made a roster move not have the highest priority?

TRADING BLOCK!!!!
Does anyone have a backup QB for week 4 they would like to trade for Percy Harvin -- after that you can drop him, do whatever -- if you would like your backup QB back during week 5, I would be interested in a best available TE for week 9 -- you can either get them off waivers, from your roster or the best of all worlds would be a trade so that I can get said TEs keeper status -- if Jared Cook is on waivers, thats a done deal !!!!!
There's also a need within the Ironic Title Community for a week 8 RB -- if we can finagle a 3 way deal involving a RB w. no bye in week 8, percy harvin and a QB with no bye in week 4, then I'm game also.

Good lord, how did Auburn not win Natl' Championship???
Sweet Dee tells me Brandon jacobs is retarded, and I'm trying to find evidence... but I found this:
Jacobs continued his college career at Auburn University, along with first-round draft picks Carnell Williams, Ronnie Brown, and Jason Campbell. Jacobs was the third-string running back behind Williams and Brown.
Was that the season that they went 11-0 and didnt make the championship ????
EDIT: So maybe not a drooling tard, but definitely special ed.

This is CRAZY
Before ending his playing career, Schlereth endured 29 surgeries, 20 on his knees (15 left, 5 right). After the 13th procedure on his left knee on July 24, 2000, Denver head coach Mike Shanahan stated, "He has a great pain threshold. I think the doctors said that it was the worst knee that they've ever seen." Schlereth would have two more procedures on his left knee during the 2000 season, his last in the NFL.

Bush says he's giving uphis 2005 Heisman Trophy
A
ssociated Press, by Ralph D. Russo
NEW YORK — Reggie Bush took the unprecedented step of giving back his Heisman Trophy on Tuesday, saying the scandal over improper benefits while he was a star running back at Southern California should not stain “the dignity of this award.” The New Orleans Saints’ star won the Heisman — symbol of the best player in college football — in 2005. Returning the trophy has no practical effect on Bush since he’s already in the pros and a member of a Super Bowl championship team.

Continuing My Geek Out
I entered our actual results and actual schedule into the computer and replicated our season 100,000 times to determine the play off contenders. There is no forecast for the number of points a team will score in future weeks so our week 1 points are the tie breaker. The relative likelihoods are as follows:
Cradle Robbers: 59.8%
Sam Handwhich: 57.2%
New Cooter Boggie: 54.9%
SpoonerExpressVer3.0: 52.8%
Road House Coolers: 46.4%
Jurrasic Pork: 29.9%
Smallville Crows: 28.3%
MPTH v4.0: 24.8%
ViableDraftStrategy: 23.5%
EMK AllStars: 22.4%
Please note: After next week, the amount of information in my model literally doubles so expect to see rapid shifts over the coming 5 weeks. Also, somewhere around week 6, I will model in player quality*. Somewhere around week 11, I will model in tie breakers*.
*this promise is highly dependent on my continuing to act like a geeky single dude whose friends all have kids and go home by 9:30.

I'm tracking our fantasy football stats like never before. One year-long stat will be bench efficiency, meaning who does the best job at putting their high scoring players on field. In week 1, we see:
Team Actual Max
CR 105 113
SH 92 104
NCB 91 106
SE 90 93
SC 89 90
JP 89 110
RHC 87 101
MPTH 73 79
VDS 71 92
EAS 59 77
So, best job of maximizing the bench, using 98.9% of his points, are the Smallville Crows.

Yes, I did add you to the MobileMe group thing.
Keep in mind, if you're texting someone, you're texting the entire group. This is not the way to float a trade proposal without alerting everyone. Thought it might be a fun way to do a little trash talking during the season.
I should add, if anyone has an issue with this, please let me know and I'll quickly remove you from the group (I don't anyone wanting to get stressed over this). As a secondary thing, does everyone have everyone's number (is that even a necessity with email)? Just thinking that if we're sending group texts, maybe individual texts at times may be the way to go...
Thoughts?

Here's the Onion on the AFC North but all other divisions can be seen from there.
Favorite quote so far, on the Steeler's weakness "Weakness: Roethlisberger has lost considerable respect in his own locker room and throughout the league because he was not convicted of a crime"

Good news for Golden Tate fans.
WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh is expected to be traded or released by Seattle, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. He's due $7 million this season. Houshmandzadeh signed a five-year, $40 million contract last offseason, and would earn $15 million for his lone season in Seattle if he's not with the team. The Seahawks aren't likely to find a trade partner due to Houshmandzadeh's salary. Houshmandzadeh, 32, caught 79 passes last season, but the Seahawks appear prepared to start Deion Branch and Mike Williams, and give second-year player Deon Butler and Golden Tate the top two reserve spots.

Auction Draft on Thursday 9/9?
I would like to do the auction draft on Thursday night. Possibly at Lees house. Who's in?
I understand there is a game on Thursday, but since we are not playing the season and just doing it as a test it shouldn't matter.
I was hoping for at least five so each person could play two teams. Yes I understand this means not as many would be in the bidding for the player. But again just testing it out.
I'll send an email too.

Thoughts on Running Backs (vis a vis Chris Johnson)
So Im not sure of the exact number, but I think CJ isnt making beaucoup dinero this year -- maybe a million or so.
Then I'm looking at Cadillac Williams' backup and think "WOW. Cadillac was rookie of the year in ... 2005 and now is just a snap away from being cut"
Tough life.
Get paid, CJ.

Crash Davis redux ?
Today, the Detroit Tigers have called up Max St. Pierre, a catcher who has spent 14 seasons in the minor leagues and tonight will wear a big-league uniform for the first time.
